Franklin Fuentes is an accomplished performer/ writer/ DJ/ designer & artist. Franklin graduated from art school; PRATT Institute, with a background in Journalism & Retail Management. While DJ-ing all over the Tri-State area (NYC’s BETTER DAYS/ NYC’s LIMELIGHT/ Washington DC’s MEN’s ROOM/ etc.), Franklin worked at NYC’s legendary Vinyl Mania record store for five years. There he met Dance legends who he would befriend & would work with in the very near future.
Franklin first worked with producer Roman Ricardo (Noel, Silent Morning), and fronted the group “Jack & Jill” for Strictly Rhythm Records. Fame was seen most, with the first of three singles; “Work It, Girlfriend”. This single contained hilarious accapella intros, including Franklin’s (now) infamous trademark punchline; “If Madonna Calls.., I’m Not Here!” Later this was to be to be the sole inspiration for his 1 Billboard Dance hit; “If Madonna Calls…” produced by DJ JUNIOR VASQUEZ. For years Franklin would work along Vasquez as a club personality/ performer/ host and occasional graphic artist to Vasquez’ parties including the original SOUND FACTORY, the TUNNEL, ROSELAND’s The Legend Continues parties, PALLADIUM’s Bump/ Arena, & Earth. Franklin went on to record other classic Club anthems such as “Tyler Moore-Mary”, “March (I’ll Take You There)”, “It’s Time 2 Bump” & “eXcuse ME (SUNGLASSES)”. “eXcuse ME” (produced by DJ JONATHON PETERS & remix team; DJs RAZOR & GUIDO) was the soundtrack for & went on to set the tone for NY’s new SOUND FACTORY. There Franklin would perform/ host/ MC for almost four years. Since then Franklin has worked with ANTHONY ACID, BRUTAL BILL, C+C Music Factory’s own RICKY CRESPO, DJ DANNY TENAGLIA, DJ EDDIE BAEZ, JASON NEVINS, LUCAS PRATA, PETER DAOU (of the Daou), DJ ROBBIE TRONCO (“Walk 4 Me”) & DJ VIBE to name a few.
Franklin’s proudest achievements include writing the club hit; “CAFE’ CON LECHE'” (by Joey Rolon), guest DJing for radio station; WKTU & participating in Strictly Rhythm Records’ “PRIDE 95” World Tour which went on to raise substantial amounts of money for AIDS charities LIFE BEAT & God’s Love, We Deliver. Franklin is currently about to release the 10 CD greatest hits collection; The FRANKLIN FUENTES Completed PLATINUM Collection. Franklin is also currently in the recording studio, recording new songs scheduled for December ’08 release. . Franklin Fuentes was chosen to Host/ MC the Beatport float for this year’s “New York City Pride celebration ’08”, which is nominated for one (or more) Pride March Awards.
